What food means to me
Food is for certain one of the most interesting things in my life although I happen to be very picky eater. Ever since Iwas a young kid sitting at the dinner table I refused to try knew things, mainly vegetables and other foods unappealing to the eye. Now as I have grown-up and matured I often find myself trying new things that I normally would hate but I end up enjoying very much. Also many people would say that I am not a healthy eater, in fact my roommate just recently told me I eat more junk food than anyone he has ever met. People eat to please themselves, they eat foods they feel are going to taste good. A repeated mistake is overlooking foods that may not appear appetizing but in reality are delicious, which is why I try to keep an open mind about the foods I see.
I was born in New Jersey so I grew up eating what I would consider amazing food compared to the food I can get in Ohio. My family enjoys New jerseys Italian food so much that a few times a year when we visit family my parents bring back five large pizzas and a log of taylor ham, which is a meat similar to bacon and ham and is often unheard of here in Ohio. It was not just my family that loved this food either. Most of my sister's friends along with my friends would all want to come stay the night so they could get some pizza and a delicious taylor ham egg and cheese sandwich for breakfast. I am not saying there is no good food in Ohio, because there is, I am just saying there is always that one meal that you would rather have than anything else and that meal often represents who you are. Taylor ham speciifically represents me because it was my food of choice when I was growing up. Every visit to New Jersey required atleast one breakfast from the local deli. Although we rarely ate there, in most cases my father would pick up a large order of sandwhiches and bring them back to my grandparents house. I can almost say that Taylor ham is not just food but a childhood memory for me.
